Dante met Paris in grade school., although they were in different social circles. Dante has admired Paris' qualities ever since. He wonders what their relationship could mean for their future lives. Does Paris have the answer?
Tyson is Paris's younger brother, and frequent competitor. He shares her pain but deals with it differently. He also has a gift that may alter the course of Paris' life.
Because of a campus trauma, Paris begins a process of emotional recovery in counseling. She develops her tools with him, finds her truth with him, and is introduced to the hope for healing through him.
A number of crucial scenes in the story take place at petal+bean, an establishment local to Paris' home and her university. petal+bean is co-owned by a barista husband and florist wife who combine their talents and interests in their business effort. The wife, Carolyn, plays an important role in resolving the key mystery of the story.
Paris, the dramatic lead for the novel, experiences life differently than others. The way she perceives a college party helps the reader to enter her world. The music, the movements, and the sounds of the dancers all have a powerful sensory and psychological impact on her.
So as not to spoil the story for the reader, details of this scene will be limited. But imagine nature often playing witness to the most powerful experiences of humankind. Love and forgiveness, reconciliation and longing make our lives worth living. . . The exchange of these enriches creation.
